A Sizzling Summer for MullinsWhile the weather in the UK has not been great this summer, it has not impeded the progress of young English golfer George Mullins.
Having won the Jamega Pro Tour Order of Merit Number 2, meaning a place in the Algarve over the winter to play golf, Mullins was left with plenty to smile about heading into the end of July and early August.
Despite claiming a place in the Algarve, Mullins could not afford to rest easy and next up was a tournament at Mullins' home club, Langley Park Golf Club. This was an event Mullins was really looking forward to and he commented on the social feed Twitter, "Looking forward to playing my home club Langley Park Golf Club in the TP Tour Golf event, course is shaping up great".
The turnout at the tournament was excellent and there were plenty of golf fans around the course, eager to see how the local lad performed.
Mullins did not let them down and finished the tournament two under par with a score of 67 for the round. This saw Mullins finish T3 and only two other players managed to record a lower score on the day, which is testament to how well the 20-year-old played.
Despite not winning the tournament, Mullins was quick to come out in praise of his fellow competitors, including tournament winner Freddie Price, who Mullins congratulated via his Twitter account (@GeorgeMullins02).
This is great to see from Mullins, who for a young man has shown great maturity in his approach to golf and his fellow competitors. It is not easy trying to make your way in the world of professional golf and it's good to see players supporting each other early in their career.
Following a week off, Mullins was back in action on the Jamega Pro Golf Tour, this time at Park Wood Golf Club.
Mullins was up against some of the top young golfers in the country but delivered another fantastic round of golf. Finishing five under par for the tournament, Mullins was very consistent throughout his two rounds of golf, scoring 69 and 70 respectively. Again, only two players managed to better Mullins' score in this tournament, which highlights the high standard of golf the Englishman played across the two days.
On to Windmill Hill the following week and Mullins was very well placed following the first round, sitting T5 on four under par. However, bad weather forced the cancellation of the second round and only the first-round scores were taken into consideration. It was a shame as Mullins looked capable of winning the event but took great heart from his first-round score.
Having played well in recent tournaments, Mullins was delighted to receive two gifts. The first of which was a selection of golf club grips from Golf Pride Grips and the second was a set of clubs from Taylor Made Golf.
With brand new equipment from top golfing brands and great momentum from recent tournaments, George Mullins has enjoyed a tremendous summer and continues to develop into an excellent young golfer.
