Mullins Planning AheadDespite not getting through the Qualifying School this year, there was still plenty for George Mullins to celebrate as the golfer takes some time off towards the end of the year.
The Jamega Pro Golf Tour announced their 2018 4 Order of Merit winners and each winner has their whole season of entries paid competing with the Portugal Pro Golf Tour. It's a great prize and Mullins was one of the players to win the 2018 Order of Merit thanks to his fantastic 7 under par at Royal Ascot.
However, thoughts are turning to what lies ahead for Mullins having enjoyed some time off in October. Mullins used the time to recuperate with a holiday following a long run of tournaments and playing golf under pressure.
Despite enjoying a holiday, Mullins kept practicing and even travelling away with the family to Dubai, there is no time away from the golf clubs. Mullins is showing his dedication to improving and becoming a top professional golfer by using the time as a training camp.
Having returned from Dubai there is more travelling to look forward to as Mullins heads to Portugal mid-November. During the two week period in Portugal Mullins will return to tournament golf but perhaps more importantly spend some valuable time with his coach.
As highlighted previously, Mullins has spoken about having very little time with his coach to work on specific aspects of his game. Any time with the coach is hugely valuable and Mullins will be looking forward to using the time fully to hone aspects of his game.
Not only will Mullins practice with his coach, he will also plan for the winter. This could include the Alps Tour Qualifying School. Nothing is in place yet and Mullins will discuss the options with his coach but this could be an exciting new addition to his schedule.
The Alps Tour Qualifying School is scheduled to take place between December 9th and 15th this year. The event will be played at La Cala Resort for the seventh time and the venue is close to Malaga airport, in the South of Spain. Logistically, this would be an easy venue for Mullins in terms of travel and presents a good opportunity.
The first stage of the competition is played over 36 holes across two days, with the final played over 54 holes between the 13th and 15th December. The top 35 players will obtain a full category to play the 2019 Alps Tour events and this would add several tournaments to Mullins' schedule next year.
For a man who said there will little taking place during a current downtime in playing golf, it appears that could all be about to change. November and December could be a very busy time for Mullins as he plans ahead for 2019.
